Facts Hidden Between Lines At Car Dealers?

  by Khalid R. Mustaffa

The writing in small tiny lettering in the bottom of every advertisement should be of more importance to every shopper.  You should pay more attention to the tinny writing as apposed to the details of advert.

Whether you are shopping for the used cars in houston area, or any other city in the nation you will find this article to contain information that with memory refreshing, you may find out that you experienced a scam at a previous dealership visit.

Certified used cars, is an abused term for marketing purposes, ultimately increasing the dealerships profit. Certified basically means that some parts have been restored, a tune up performed, and new brakes installed. This costs much less than the margin of increase for adding the word certified.  To make matters worst, a dealer that sells certified used cars in houston area, where the engine wires were were sprayed with black paint to make it look new. Many readers wrote me about a certified car that had undisclosed history of accidents.  However, they could not fight for a refund, because they signed an AS IS statement.

The fine print gets a lot of consumers in trouble. Lets take the 90 day dealer warranty for example. If you were to read the fine print, you may  notice a fine print stating that the car is sold AS IS, and the warranty only covers the power train.

Last but not least, the buyers guide (Sticker on car windows at dealerships).  Most consumers are unwary that the sticker is a requirement forced by the federal government.  It is also a federal law that type of warranty is stated on the sticker.  it should disclose if the car was sold AS IS, or not.  The sticker overrides the words of the salesperson, for example if the salesperson tells you that the car warranted, but the sticker states “AS IS”. The number one issue my readers ask advise for is that they bought a car based of facts a salesperson explained, and weeks later the dealership is not honoring the salespersons words.  The excuse is that the "As Is" box was checked.

Read the buyers guide carefully, don't just glance at it.
