Gas Saving Products - Are They Real?

  by Khalid R. Mustaffa

Every driver is getting affected by the skyrocketing gas prices.  This made drivers fragile to marketing, and look for a solution in any product or part.  On the other hand, the producers of the so called “Gas Saving” additives saw this as a golden opportunity to rack money up in their bank accounts.  Cars in Houston is not by any mean saying that the additive issue is a complete myth; however, saw the necessity to educate you on such claims.

It is in human nature to fall scientifically sounding marketing.  However, you should be caution and not allow advertisers blind you by science. Think rationally, not emotionally.

Cars in Houston found out that the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) in warning consumers of any gas-saving claims for oil and gas additives.  The FTC concluded that even those additives that do indeed save gas, the savings rarely pays for the price of the bottle.   Furthermore, the USEPA (United States Environmental Protection Agency) has yet to find a product that improves gas mileage notably. The EPA has evaluated over a hundred products that claim to be gas savers, and the results proved otherwise.

Cars in Houston searched the internet for gas saving products.  In the search process we encountered awakening statements.  Advertisers claimed to have broken through the chemical and physical properties of gasoline.  Cars in Houston also encountered testimonials stating overall savings of anywhere between 12 to 25 percent.

Well, let’s think about this issue from a different perspective.  Industry leaders dedicate billions of dollars annually for research and development.  How come those industry leaders don’t claim to have such products!!  Why is it always names that you never heard about?

This is only the first of a series of articles dedicated to educating the consumers on gas, and gas additives.  Hence, those that really protect your engine and others that hurt the engine.
